Prisons Week 2017 – Press On!
Date posted: September 22, 2017 - News added by Administrator
Prison Fellowship are pleased to again be involved in Prison Week – a week of prayer for prisoners, their families, and all those who work in or around the criminal justice system.
In 2017 the theme of the week is Press On, from a verse in Philippians:
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” Philipiians 3:12
We’re encouraging all our volunteers and supporters to commit to pray this week. Prisons Week has created a leaflet with an introduction from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, as well as a prayer focus for each day of the week. Click here to download the prayer leaflet.
He writes, “Paul encourages all not to give up hope, but keep their eyes on the goal, keep going. Yet this isn’t about making efforts and working harder. It is about recognising that in Jesus, God has already ‘taken hold’ of us. That victims, prisoners, staff and families, are not walking this road alone, but God, who loves them, is ready to walk with them.”
Join us this year by praying for those involved in this vital ministry.
We have multiple copies of the leaflet at our office that we’d be happy to send out to you! Click here to contact us.
If your church would like one of our volunteers to come and speak at your Church service or a small group event (women’s or men’s breakfast for example), please contact the Support Office (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’d be happy to find someone for you!
