Sycamore Tree Group Facilitator

Description:
To support the Sycamore Tree Tutor and lead a small group of learners through the course

Location:
Prison that is running Sycamore Tree – travel may be required

Accountable to:
Sycamore Tree Course Tutor, Regional Coordinator

Summary of tasks:

  • Assist the tutor in delivering the ST course
  • Lead and facilitate small group discussions
  • Have an understanding of the learners journey through the material
  • Complete post programme reports each week to track the learners journey (assessment sheets)
  • Deliver prepared reading to the large group
  • Attend monthly PF group meetings

Skills/experience needed:

  • Able to lead small group discussions
  • Sensitive and non-judgmental
  • Team player and encourager to the learners
  • Commitment to safeguarding and protecting vulnerable children/adults and a willingness to raise concerns where necessary

Training provided:

  • PF Basic Training and Induction Manual
  • Act as a helper through the whole of a course with another group facilitator
  • Lead a group on your own supervised and then on your own
  • Opportunties to training to be a tutor if desired

Finance:
The role is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be paid

Availability:
Must be available for 6 consecutive weeks during the day to assist in running the course
