Birmingham gathering for prison group

Prison Fellowship supporters from across the Midlands are invited to a special meeting at Elim Ministry of Love Church, Winson Green, on Wednesday 19th May (7.30pm)

Prison Fellowship (www.prisonfellowship.org.uk ) has a nationwide network of supporters and volunteers assisting prisoners, victims and their families.

The volunteers and supporters represent a wide range of Christian denominations.

The charity runs the Sycamore Tree programme, a popular initiative run in many UK prisons, aimed at helping inmates come to terms with their crimes by underlining the effects on victims.

They also help the children of men and women in prison with their nationwide Angel Tree scheme which ensures that children are remembered at Christmas.

Peter Bannister, Prison Fellowship’s Senior Regional Co-ordinator, said that he was calling the meeting so that all of the charity's supporters in the area had the opportunity to discuss new ways forward for developing their work.

"The evening will be for us to explore the different aspects of ministry within Prison Fellowship in the Birmingham area, how we can complement each others groups and ministries. We welcome newcomers interested in working with us," Mr Bannister said today.

Prison Fellowship England and Wales works with inmates and prison staff right across the country and seeks to change lives through its work.
