Ann and Tom Jenkins

Over two decades of volunteering at Prison Fellowship

Ann Jenkins has been volunteering for Prison Fellowship since 1986! She first decided to volunteer when a friend of hers and her husband’s, Tom, told her about the organisation. Since retiring in 2005 Tom joined Ann in her volunteer work for Prison Fellowship.

Ann has volunteered for the organisation for over two decades and has been called upon in a variety of way, she explains: “Over the past 25 years I have volunteered in many ways, including visiting my local prison to lead Bible studies, to help with the children in the visitors centre, and to share my testimony. I have also been a member of our local Prison Fellowship Prayer Group and over the years I have found being a Prison Fellowship volunteer very interesting and often soul searching at times.”

The couple also assist in the Prison Fellowship office completing various administrative tasks. They offer their help across a number of different programmes the organisation runs: “From assisting with Angel Tree orders, to compiling Sycamore Tree packs for upcoming courses; volunteering in this way has been an honour and privilege.”

The couple receive great pleasure in knowing that their work is helping others and that their efforts are greatly appreciated. Ann says: “I can only say that the staff team at Prison Fellowship always seem to be grateful for the work we do and I trust that many prisoners have been helped through the small part Tom and I have played during this time.”
