How can I get involved?

There are a few ways to get involved. You can

Angel Tree Programme Coordinators will be registered Prison Fellowship Volunteers.

What sort of things might I do?

You might do some fundraising to pay for presents, you might shop for gifts, you might attend a wrapping event or you might help with the administration of the programme.

Do I need to live near a prison?

No. it will help if you or someone from your team can visit the chaplain but Angel Tree can operate entirely by post.

When does Angel Tree start?

Angel Tree begins in earnest during September so you will need to have begun your fundraising by then.

How much will it cost to send a present?

We recommend spending £10 on gifts and allowing up to £5 for postage and stationary.

Do I need any particular skills to Coordinate Angel Tree?

Not necessarily though you will need plenty of time. Fundraising may take a fair chunk of the year and between September and December you will need to organise your supporters into buying wrapping and sending the gifts. It will help if you or one of your team if fairly proficient in a PC.

Do I need a CRB?

Only if you will be hand delivering gifts in your local area.

Anyone handling the addresses of children will need to be a registered prison fellowship volunteer having completed our application process.

What support will I get/need?

The prison fellowship office will provide you with all the resources you need to coordinate a programme. You will need to do all your own fundraising bearing in mind you are looking for £15 per child and you will need a team of supporters to help you with the practical work.
